This info may help you if the post-obit is truthful:
    - up until now youve had no issues when using your sd carte
    - of a sudden you can no longer write to the card, perchance forth with an error bulletin beingness reported that indicates the sd carte is mounted read-just

This is another 1 of those situations where it is not necessary to take farthermost measures such as doing a complete reformat, or outright replacing the carte du jouras suggested in the many threads on this subject field.

Here are the facts. Your sd menus file allocation table (FAT) has some kind of error. Information technologysouth an android-thing that crops upwards once in a while. Because of this Fatty error, the card automatically gets mounted read-only, and no matter how many times you become into settings and attempt to unmount/remount the bill of fare, it is to no avail.

    SOLUTION

    Gear up the Fatty
    - connect device to your PC (USB connection) and make sure itsouth set then that you can copy files to/from your estimator (on my device in the notification panel theres an pick to practice this under USB connected)
    - on your pc, open windows explorer (or click on commencement->reckoner), then right click on the mapped bulldoze to your sd card you may have to wait a minute or two for the mapping to take event
    - select Properties
    - select Tools
    - select Cheque now (for error checking) to automatically gear up file organization errors (no need to deal with bad sectors at this time)
    - when completed (takes a minute or so), the Fatty volition be in working order once once more. No files are deleted during the process, so no demand to worry about that.
    - safely disconnect the device from your pc, at which point the sd card will now be mounted read-write and y'allre skillful to go

My SD carte du jour is on a photographic camera. I tried your technique, in addition to reformatting the carte via computer, file sharing with "everyone", and none of these techniques work. I click off the grayed out protection and it comes back. File sharing with "everyone" appears to stick but does not. Interestingly enough, even though the carte du jour is a grayed out "read-simply", I can still manipulate the disk directories and files on the computer. The sharing info shows the computer name.

If you have the FAT problem more than than once, information technology could exist an indication that the card is going bad. (The Fatty is one of the virtually written-to areas on the bill of fare.) At that point, brand sure that you take every unmarried file that you may e'er want backed up onto your computer. And then when the FAT finally goes bad (and if it'south a proficient manufacturer, they may fifty-fifty supersede the card for free), you won't lose your data.

Think, fifty-fifty though SD cards have a huge number of write cycles, it IS a finite number, and every SD card will eventually become bad. You lot tin replace the card, but you lot can never supplant the picture of your granddaughter's first step. Data you lot don't accept backed up to at least ii independent places is data that you really don't demand.

this is in a higher place technique not working
    how to repair this
any other trick what tin I do plz help bro....

Try putting the card into a card reader and plugging that into the computer. It should come up equally a drive letter. Follow the instructions from there.

If the card doesn't come (but other cards in the same card reader do), or the card shows an error and doesn't come up, the card itself may be bad. (At that place's a whole computer in that little menu.) In that case, contact the card manufacturer. (In cases like that, it pays to buy SanDisk cards - they're very like shooting fish in a barrel to deal with when a card goes bad [which is rare].)

Non So Easily! I bought a new SD Card and re-installed all my music files. It, of [SOLVED] [ANDROID] What to do if sd card is mounted read-only/can't write to the sd card-bad-sd-card.jpgcourse, nonetheless said "read only" and created a trouble with apps that want to access information technology like photographic camera. So I tried your proposition on my win viii calculator. The telephone showed up as a CD Rom and so no set option. I put the SD card in a usb holder and that showed up as Bulldoze E: I then ran chkdsk and stock-still it. NO Benefit. I so put the sd card dorsum and Reformatted it and reinstalled my music files. NO BENEFIT. Still Read Merely on the phone. I then downloaded "SDFormatter" and let that format the disk and once again installed my music files. "NO Benefit still read only and creating errors.

Any other ideas? It is Not Likely the new bill of fare and I accept formatted it enough. Information technology seems it has got to be the telephone. However without the sd carte the phone works flawlessly! BTW, when the SD Card is installed the telephone reports in the notification box "686%" as processing state of the mounted SD Carte! That and the Read Only are the notable errors.

    Hello,
sadly your post didn't work as once i select the drive in windows explorer, i tin do "backdrop", but "tools" is not available.
now, i can see the files in my download folder from my PC and from my phone. even access them (they are downloaded movies: .mp4 and .flv). in the past (with KK and lollipop) i could download, delete, motility, etc... my files via my phone or via my estimator. now it seems that i can download the file, but i cannot delete it (neither via phone or via desktop).
on phone it says: "check to make sure it's not mounted equally read only", just once i check it via PC, it's not checked as read-only. if i try to delete via PC, it just says it couldn't and to either skip file or end. something i never had before.
i checked with ConnectBot to encounter that i am indeed rooted. "quickboot" doesn't piece of work, although that may be considering of lollipop, as i hadn't tested information technology before i had the read-just issue.

in other words, i can download files, but i cannot delete them. eventually i volition run out of storage.
i can as well not observe the "tools" pick, as it's simply not bachelor.

    whatever other suggestions?
    cheers a bunch

If it's a SanDisk card, go to SanDisk microSD Tech Support and open a live chat (box at the upper right). They'll supervene upon defective cards.

Samsung probably volition too, simply getting to them isn't every bit like shooting fish in a barrel as getting to SanDisk.

Other manufacturers? Since they're using Samsung or SanDisk chips in their cards (there are no others), who knows?
